Graded Unit 1: Victory

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AO3XWxrfkjA: A link to a theatre projection that has helped give me an idea of what can be done.

Above are my general ideas for each scene.

After a group discussion I was tasked with the black friars scene which involves a gate. The images above are my exploration for the design of the gate and also pillars that the gate would be hinged to.

Mentor meeting - the feedback that I have received from my mentor meeting is that I should look at time lapse videos of plants growing to give me an idea for my animation. The foundation of this idea is that each piece of the gate would grow up from the scene below which is a regency garden.

Mentor meeting - the feedback that i received was that i need to match the scene behind my gate to that of the scene before.

After i completed the designing of the scene, i drew up thumbnails for the animation then storyboards. The storyboards show the gate growing up like plants from the scene before.

This is the frame of the gate. At the side are experiments of how i could create the inside pieces.

This is a render where i have found the best way to create the inside pieces and have used it.

This is where i have completed the pillars and also the gate.

This is the floor. The orange parts are to be pavement and the grey bit to be a road. The sign that is on top of the gate was created by Nicole Watson.

This is my scene fully textured.

This is my experiment with the morph modifier in 3ds Max. It works by copying the object you want to use the morph modifier on and by applying the morph modifier it allows me to edit the copy any way i like and be able to make it transform back to its original shape.
This shows the two outside parts of the gate growing up.

This is the final version of my gate scene.

This is the floor for my scene that will be projected on the floor.

This is my final outcome for this project.
